Walked in on a cold January night and decided to have a gourmet meal for one. Upon entering, the staff greeted me and told me to seat myself. They brought over the menu along with a glass of water. I saw that they do this for every customer that walks in. I usually get the Netsu Ramen and usually go to the Dundas or Bloor location but since I was on Queen, I decided to try something else. The Orochong Ramen.... holy shit. Holy. Shit. This dish is a world of its own. Not too sure about the other locations but I could tell they make their own noodles from scratch and the picture on the menu DOES NOT do this dish justice.
It's perfectly warm, oily and spicy. One wrong slurp and yea, you may or may not choke on the oil but that's all part of the fun. They're quite generous with their veggies and I was told to try the chicken version. They clearly did something to the chicken, cuz first bite, damn. I was sold. I just kept silently nodding my head with a stupid grin on my face.
I kept seeing other customers order dumplings and I do love dumplings so I ordered their 3 pieces to take home. When I got home, they were still warm and was surprised as to how big they were. I mean they were huge for the price they were charging. Again, their generosity in portioning has been well noted! I'm reading the other reviews below and I see that their dumplings are made at home. Dang. Don't know if it's the MRS or the MR who makes dumplings but they are so rich and so flavorful. It was slightly spicy but I mean that's what helps cut the grease I suppose.
Overall, my experience as a lonely diner was great. I was also happy that I wasn't the only one sitting alone with headphones in and just lost in their phones. I will definitely be coming back to Kenzo on Queen street time and time again!
