| - I feel it is fair to warn others of what happens upon vacating this scam. Probably the most incompetent & greedy management/company I have EVER dealt with! I guess we can start with the fact that I was SO eager to vacate, I left almost an entire month prior to my lease ending. Reason being? The harassment from management was becoming unbearable. January 1 was a holiday. So was the 2nd. When rent is due on the 1st & you cannot pay online because their system is inaccurate (or they have banned you from paying online, like they enjoy banning certain people from the front office) you have no choice but to hand-deliver rent or place it in the drop box. ...and I am suddenly charged "late" fees for depositing on the 1st, the DUE DATE, but they didn't check the box until coming back to work on the 3rd? HOW is that MY fault or responsibility when I did MY part by paying ON TIME??? The check was dated 1-1-17. It was in the box before midnight. Yet, they refused to accept my money! Told me I needed to fork out $30 in "late fees" plus another $25 for them to shove a piece of paper in my door?! No. Since they already had notice of my vacating, I told them to take those "fees" out of my deposit, and the credit I had on my account for overpaying a month prior. All they wanted to do was argue and continue to charge me per day for what was not in my control. There was no way I was going to write another check when they had not cashed or returned the first one. And not for fees that were unjust.
Upon vacating, I had to demand a signed & dated receipt of returning all my keys & a copy of the documentation, because I know how shady this place is and it was more than aggravating having to demand I receive proper documentation on my end before they inevitably try to charge me more for some petty reason. It only took me asking several times & refusing to leave until I got proper documentation that they finally agreed to sign & date the move-out paperwork for my records.
But apparently they thought we needed to go to court over their refusal to accept my rent money for January. I guess they aren't smart enough to MAIL the notice to a tenant's new address... what good does shoving an appearance notice in the crack of the now vacant apartment do? Clearly I don't reside there to receive, yet ANOTHER, "legal" notice shoved in the door. Kind of hard to show up when you weren't notified whatsoever in a formal manner. And all because they refused to accept my rent money unless I wrote a second check to include "fees" that I did not agree with. Who in their right mind would write a second check when the first is still in their hands?! Sounded way too much like a double charge scam. They claimed they "mailed" the first check back to me- but it never showed, so it ended up costing me, anyway, to call my bank & stop payment/void it out. All because this greedy place wouldn't accept my money. Who in their right mind rejects monies owed?! Harassing & bullying tenants won't get you more than some very irate individuals wanting to make SURE everyone is aware of what a scam this place is.
So here we are nearly 2 months later & now I am getting harassing calls from the corporate office in Washington. Wanting to email me a spreadsheet of "charges" I supposedly owe. The spreadsheet is a jumbled pile of a mess nickel & diming everything. Claiming I owe $2K at this point! HOW is that possible when I had a $400 deposit and 0 cleaning/damage charges were on the move-out??? They even had the nerve to send a new bill, to my new address, telling me I owe them rent & utilities for a month AFTER my lease had ceased! Do stupid people actually pay when this place bullies them & tries to overcharge or pull a fast one?! It seems to be the norm of their business practice.
Needless to say- there is no way in hell I am going to fork out another $2K in bs charges they are claiming, especially when they refused to accept the legit rent money owed for my last month there. Which SHOULD have been prorated. I finally decided to block their office and corporate office numbers because there is no winning with slumlords who just want to be greedy & argue.
Do yourself a favor and avoid this joke at ALL costs! There are plenty of WAY better places to reside & rent from instead of a greedy, impersonal dump of harassment.
