| - 3.5 stars! I've been dying to eat at Wicked Spoon, the Cosmo's buffet restaurant. My friends had said good things about it and the name is so cute, so Cosmo. We came on a Sunday at the brunching hour. We first waited in one short line, to pay the cashier. We just paid for the buffet part and she told us that for the bottomless mimosa/champagne/bloody marys, we let our server know and then they would give us a separate bill for that. Then we had to go to another line to wait to get into the restaurant. That line was not terribly long, but we probably had to wait 10 minutes or so before we were seated.
I walked around the whole buffet to scout out the food offerings. There's a dessert station, an Asian station, there was breakfasty foods, pizza/flatbreads, pasta, fried chicken, salads, bagels, cheeses, and more! Presentation of the food was cute, with some of the items in cute mini bowls and such.
ROUND 1: breakfast! smoked salmon, braised beef eggs benedict, roasted fingerling potatoes, mini yogurt cup with a raspberry + blackberry + granola, and a bottle of mango + orange + some other fruit juice. The smoked salmon was delicious (I actually went and got another one of this). The eggs benedict was also delicious! The beef was really yummy and the egg was poached perfectly. The potatoes were also really yummy. And so was the yogurt - and it was so cute in the little glass cup and it was the perfect size. The juice tasted great too. In fact, I mixed some in with my mimosa and it tasted great! (Yes, I did the bottomless mimosas - it's not brunch buffet in Vegas without mimosas!)
ROUND 2: brunch! French toast, mac n cheese, cheesy scrambled eggs, wicked fried chicken, apricot sticky morning bun, chicken apple sausage, and ham potatoes au gratin. The cashier and the lady who seated us both said that the French toast was one of their favorite foods here. And it was pretty good. The bread is thick and fluffy. You might want to put maple syrup on it, cuz it's not as eggy and it's a little bit on the drier side. Just a tad. The cheesy scrambled eggs were good but nothing special and not worth valuable stomach space. The mac n cheese was not good. Skip it. The wicked fried chicken was good but it was SUPER salty. The apricot sticky bun was a disappointment. The chicken apple sausage was dry and not juicy at all. The potatoes au gratin was yummy.
ROUND 3: Asian! Pork fried rice, stir fried noodles, bone marrow, & sushi. They had pork fried rice in little individual Chinese takeout boxes which I thought was super cute. The fried rice was not bad - it didn't have much flavor, but at least it wasn't greasy/oily. The noodles were labeled as being udon noodles, but I'm pretty sure they weren't. I think they were just chow mein noodles. But these were just ok. I've never had bone marrow before, but it's just a little bit on the piece I got. It just tastes like fat, but there's a seasoning on it. The sushi selection was not very impressive - they had like caterpillar rolls and two others and they would rotate and bring out other stuff. I got one that had spicy tuna on the top. It was just ok. I later got a little bowl of the teriyaki chicken rice. The chicken was dry and the seasoning was kind of off. The Asian station was not impressive to me.
ROUND 4: a little bit of everything. I got a goat cheese panna cotta - these was weird and I didn't like it. The gnocchi was good. There was a risotto and that was ok. The kale salad was ok. I tried another pasta dish and that was ok as well.
ROUND 5: dessert! They offered a lot of little pretty desserts, from cheesecake to raspberry rice krispy treats to gelato. Tried the mango passionfruit sorbet, thai iced tea gelato, & blood orange sorbet. The mango passionfruit sorbet as good. The thai tea one didn't really have a strong flavor. The blood orange was good though.
ROUND 6: crab!!! Just when I thought I was done, I did one more sweep, and I guess they were getting ready for dinner service, because they brought out the crab legs!!! I love crab legs, so I had to make room for these. They slice them in half for you, so it's super easy to eat (thought not as fun).
Our server was fun and awesome! He was really nice and kept sure that I always had a mimosa in hand. I'd say that their mimosas weren't that strong though - I had five of them and didn't feel buzzed. But maybe it was because all the food I was eating was soaking up the alcohol. ha! Overall, the buffet was good. Not the best one (I give that honor to Bacchanal at Ceasars). The Asian food was not that good, but a lot of their breakfasty foods were good. The Italian stuff was just ok. They also had a made to order omelette station and a meat carving station. I probably wouldn't come again, but it was fun to come and try it!.
