They had the best variety of bare root fruit trees. They went out of their way to get me a Fuyu persimmon tree when they ran out.
I would have given them four stars but as I was leaving with the persimmon tree one of the workers came running out and said I need a new starter ferltizer. What a disaster, I burned the roots of a 150 dollar Lychee tree which died, the persimmon which is barely alive, a 120 dollar mandarin tree and a 120 dollar three in one plum which have recovered after losing all of their leaves.
I also planted a apricot, fig, two jujubes that I had bought before I was sold that starter fertilizer and those are growing fine.
I called and talked to the big online nurseries that I bought the other trees from and they where shocked that I was advised to put a granular fertilizer in the ground when planting the trees, the granular ferltizer burns the fine root hairs and should never be done.
When I went it and talked to the manager he said that he had never heard of this before. He said that the other nurseries did not know how to grow plants in the desert. Star nursery has been in business for x amount of years and are the desert experts.
Its very simple at every site on the web about how to plant new trees every says not to put granular ferltizer in the ground as it will burn the root hairs.
