So after reading some recent reviews for the same weekend I stayed at this "resort" (Alex I.) it's become apparent why there were so many unruly boys at the River Ranch. The pools were crawling with unattended boys that were left to do whatever they wanted with zero supervision. I was trying to play at the poolside basketball hoop with my 11yr old daughter and these boys were aggressively "slam dunking" the ball. We couldn't even get near the hoop. There's no lifeguard on duty so it's basically a free for all. On the lazy river they were pushing past people to chase one another and throwing footballs and tennis balls at each other from the bridges that went over the river. I even commented to my husband, why are there so many unsupervised boys here?!
This review isn't for the ruffians though. Point Hilton is not by any means a "resort" in terms of luxury. If you are looking for luxurious accommodations and great food DO NOT STAY HERE. We booked one night at the Point Hilton for a stay-cation over spring break. The room rate with resort fee was $400...for one night. We booked anyway assuming the resort was going to have beautiful rooms and excellent accommodations. Upon entry to our king suite there was a large stain on the carpet. A chair with wooden arms had initials carved into it. The carpet in the bedroom was unraveling right in front of the bed. The lamp on the front room had no bulb and the outlet set into the base of the lamp was damaged so when we tried to remove a charger all the wires came out with it.
The entire property was just tired and in need of an upgrade. Our elevator had damage to the walls. This is the first impression I get upon arrival.
It was just disappointing and for them to ask for $400 a night in completely insane. The front desk staff were very nice and did refund a large portion of our room charge which was appreciated.
I suppose if you reserve a casita and you can fit 15 people in it then it's more affordable. Or if you reserve a 1 bdrm suite and fit 5 kids in there who's parents are splitting the bill.
Overall just a disappointing experience and I wouldn't go back.
