  • I mean, I guess you have to get dressed up and all fancy-schmancy every once in awhile, right? My quota for 2017 was met with Prime. While taking our semi-annual trip to Vegas and staying at our normal stomping grounds, the Bellagio, we made reservations for Prime for our Christmas Eve dinner. I really want to come back when it's warmer so we can sit outside RIGHTNEXT to the fountains and enjoy a breathtaking view with our meal. Like most upscale restaurants, you need to bring your own flashlight...or in the 21st century, as our table neighbors did, take out your phone and turn its flashlight on to see the menu. Located below the Bellagio (just take the escalators down) past HYDE towards the shops. You'll immediately be met by the hostess who will take your name. There's a corridor that has benches that leads to the bathrooms for people to wait. Behind the hostess are the double doors that lead to the outdoor seating next to the fountains. If you so choose, you can walk right into the restaurant and the bar is immediately to your right. Yay for bars because they were playing the football game my stepdad and I were betting on. Whoda thunk that this schwanky restaurant would be playing fooseball on the boob tube? Thankfully, being raised all over the world, I am accustomed to certain dining etiquette...and thankfully so. At restaurants like these, my heart aches for those who have no idea what they're doing. Some quick studies: please do not wear denim please do not wear tennis shoes or flip flops please, gentlemen, at least wear a collared or button-up shirt with slacks please, ladies, wear at least a nice blouse and a nice skirt or slacks allow your host to push your chair in for you allow your server to place your napkin in your lap be prepared to have your server remove certain glasses if you won't be having wine/coffee like you see in the movies/on TV, use your utensils from the outside in The food was stellar, while amazingly expensive (Vegas). Our server was well-mannered and civil. I always feel, though, that employees of restaurants like these look down on us "regular folk". I tried to pay it no mind. Regardless, the food was delicious, the service was good, and it was an overall pleasing experience. Will I be back? Not if it's my decision, but if someone else in my party wants to dine here, sure.
