  • Richard Pro here with another review. I was skeptical of all the positive reviews--after all, curry is curry, and I've had my fair share of it. However, I'm pleased to say this place really hits the spot. Small, cramped, cozy, and warm, Japanese Curry Zen instantly impresses with soft sticky rice, a generous portion of addicting curry sauce, and a huge selection of meats. First off, the curry is spicy! Level 3 was already more than I could handle, and it goes up to level 10. I tried pork katsu, pork tenderloin, grilled chicken, and kurobata sausage. The pork katsu and tenderloin taste the same yet one costs more than the other. So if I were you, I'd choose the cheaper one. You really can't tell the difference once they cut it up and fry it. The grilled chicken was disappointing. Dry and unmarinated. Yes, you're supposed to lather it with sauce but it doesn't change the fact that it comes dry and unmarinated. The kurobata sausage impressed me the most. Perhaps because I've never had it before, but I was honestly expecting some kind of hot dog and ended up being pleasantly surprised. It has a nice flavor to it. Portion size is quite generous and service is great.
