| - My girlfriend and I had been planning a trip to Las Vegas for quite some time. I have been coming to Las Vegas since I was 21 and 99.99% of the time I have stayed at the Golden Nugget. To me Downtown in Vegas and the strip is an amusement park.
My girlfriend and I booked our room via Expedia and locked in at $79.00 a night for just above a basic room. We figured the less money we spend on a room the more money we will have to live the life fantastic.
We arrived at check-in and I mentioned to Ryan how long I have been coming to the Golden Nugget, I also mentioned to Ryan how I try and send as much business there way via my Yelp reviews. After I dropped all of that information I then asked Ryan if there were any room upgrades available. I was honestly expecting to have to fork out a few dollars more but that was not the case. Ryan simply said we have upgraded your room to one of our suites, not sure what type of suite it was I asked, what is the charge, Ryan told us 'No Charge.'
We headed to the elevators which were literally located right next to High Roller Slot section of the casino. We headed to room with no idea of what to expect when we opened the doors. When we did in fact open the doors we were shocked (in a very good way) at what type of suite we were given. We were upgraded from a Gold Tower basic room ($79.00 a night during a weekday, $179.00 a night during the weekend) to a Parlor Suite ($179.00 a night during a weekday, $279.00 a night during the weekend).
We walked in to find a HUGE bathroom with a Jacuzzi bathtub. The bathroom had a separated vanity area. Out bedroom has a large King sized bed, mirrored walls, large closet, a digital safe, desk & 42" flat screen Television. As we continued walking around the room my girlfriend said 'Oh my goodness' the door separating our room from the room next door (you know those doors) is open. We knocked on the door we connected both of our rooms to alert the person who might be staying there that our shared door was open, little did we know this was still our room. This area contained a separate dining room, living room, wet bar, refrigerator, wine glasses, an additional closet, another 42" flat screen television and a view of the Fremont Street Experience.
This made our trip so much better, we were treated like Royalty from the moment we valeted our vehicle to the moment we left the Casino to head home. As for the Casino it has more of a down to earth feel to it. The games are bunched closer together to give you the vibe of a party going on which is exactly what is going on. This will not be my last trip to Las Vegas and without question when I come back I will be staying at The Golden Nugget. I say if you are coming to Las Vegas connect with 'Old School' Las Vegas and be treated like a 'King' or 'Queen' at the Golden Nugget.
