| - We went for Father's Date as this was my husband's favorite place to brunch. He loves the atmosphere, the view, the sticky buns, and the Bloody Marys. We went with our daughter, son in law, and grandson.
Unfortunately, we were not totally happy with the service and the waiter, or the food. The waiter seemed to be "hung over" as he didn't have much of a personality and didn't seem to really want to be there.
My husband ordered the special $6 Bloody Mary but didn't really like it. He loves the one with the giant prawn in it and if he was offered that option, he would have certainly had that. There was no mention that the bloody mary would not have the prawn from the waiter, but we should have expected no prawn since the price was cheaper than normal. I had a glass of Veuve Clicquot after asking for the champagne/wine menu. The waiter brought it over but there were very few bubbles and seemed flat. At $15 a glass, one would expect lots of bubbles. It seemed the bottle was left over from the night below. We sent that back and another glass of champagne was brought out which was more fitting.
My smoked salmon was tasty and wonderful, as usual. Hubby and son in law got the special benedict with crab and filet tenderloin. I didn't ask my son in law if he enjoyed his meal, but my husband said he should have order the regular eggs benefit as the beef was dry and tasteless. Our daughter had a bagel with cream cheese and avocado which she was very happy with.
Maybe because it was Father's Day, the food, drinks, and waiter were "off". Because we enjoy the El Chorro Lodge, we will be back, but probably not for any special occasion.
One positive was the woman who was refilling the water glasses (blonde, glasses). She was very nice and personable and engaged our grandson in conversation. We all agreed that we would have loved to have her as our wait person instead of the one we had.
