  • So on this visit to Pittsburgh, I had two places on my "eat at" list - Cure + Meat and Potatoes. I ended up making reservations at Cure for Sunday Dinner and was lucky enough to arrive 20 mins after Meat and Potatoes opened for their Saturday night trade and since it was early enough, was fortunate and scored a lovely table on the patio. I gotta say first up, my server was AWESOME!! I was a bit indecisive with the menu (there were so many good choices!) and he was really patient and listed options. I ended up getting the chicken liver entree and the Crispy Pig ear sandwich which was on the daily specials list. So thoughts on my liver - it was delicious and so so creamy, almost like pate... but...but for me, the accompanying sauce and breading was too aggressively seasoned. So let me explain - I wanted the liver to stand on it own, but because the breeding was so robust and spicy, I felt the lovely pate like taste and texture of the tender liver was lost. Similarly the accompanying sauce also had an assertive taste and when I dipped my liver into the chipotle remoulade, the delicacy of the liver was lost. I feel this dish could do with some more refinement- I almost wanted something more creamy as my accompanying sauce than the remoulade currently listed on the menu. For my other dish, first I just want to list the ingredient list for my Crispy Pig Ear sandwich and #5 in particular had me most curious: 1) Grilled ramp BBQ 2) Apple slaw 3) Hazel nuts 4) Pecorino 5) Foie gras mayonnaise 6) Paprika Hot & Sour Fries 7) Ciabatta So I grew to like this sandwich more as I progressively ate into it - my first bite wasn't all there and frankly the pig ear piece I got was a touch too crispy but as the apple slaw and the pecorino cheese mixed with the lusciousness of the foie gras mayonnaise, this sandwich really came into it's own. The accompanying string fries too were great and all together it was really quite good! Then the taste of the occasional hazelnut would pop up and it would turn very earthy. So overall definitely an interesting meal and for sure I will come again to try some of the other menu items. Yelp Review 49/2017
