My parents took me here when I was a kid. That's how old this place is.
This was in the 80's, when your parents sent you and your sibling off with a $100 bill each morning to entertain ourselves all day and night at Circus Circus and other hotels. To get around, we'd catch cabs like New Yorkers and would only go back to our hotel when we ran out of money. Parents. They had it so easy back then.
They say you can never go back to the old days, and going to the Peppermill lounge as an adult is that adage personified. (Not that I was in the lounge section as a kid.) Questionable quality of food that's highly recommended as delicious by all their waitstaff (???) strong, strong, STRONG drinks and hilarious dim lighting, accented by the blue pools of flames that the round booths surround.
It's so gauche, you kinda have to like it. Or be awed by it. If Jem and the Holograms had their own bar...this would be it.
But...
I wouldn't want to get out of control drunk here.
It's far from everywhere else; randomly located on the Strip. Avoid the food, have a couple of cocktails and ease yourself back on the road.
