This place came up on my radar as having a good array of wines to try. So after checking out their web site I went out on my lunch break to pick up a bottle. I got to the 20th block of Penn and didn't see a sign for it anywhere. The address I had was 2022 Penn but that's the address for Enrico Biscotti Cafe'... who would have thought that Carlos Garage Winery occupies just a little corner of the Café? But it does.
I asked for a bottle of the Spaghetti Red and was a little shocked when the lady who was taking care of me said, "That'll be $25.00". The listed price on their web site priced it at $12.00. When I mentioned this to her and showed her the site on my phone, she told me that the prices have recently gone up but that she would honor the price quoted on the site. She was very nice about it and kindly charged me only $12.
I'm not sure what my rating will be after I get a chance to try the wine and I'm open to changing it based on the quality of the product. But as for now, I'm giving it just three stars for the erroneous pricing on their web site and for not having any sense of signage displaying that Carlos Garage Winery is located inside Enrico Biscotti Cafe'. If I hadn't known the address and ventured into the café, I would have never of found the place.
*** Side Note: I really need to do lunch at Enrico Biscotti Café' sometime. From what I saw during this visit, the atmosphere seems very quaint and what I imagine a southern European café would resemble and the food on the plates sure looked yummy.
