| - This is a great place for to bring out of town guests to introduce them to Madison and Wisconsin.
Food & Drinks:
The cheese curds are the best in Madison (upon a random taste test of places) and the dipping sauces make it even better. I definitely recommend the garlic or the horsey blue. Great starter to your meal.
The beer cheese soup is another great item, for a side or as a meal. I really like the popcorn which gives it a little bit of a crunch. Very flavorful and savory.
Other than the favorites, I've found the food to be consistently good, regardless of whether it's a fish sandwich, French dip, or a burger. There's a large menu, so you should be able to find something for everyone. Also, check out their specials. Their prime rib is among the best I've ever had
The beer menu is out of this world, with a significant amount of beers in bottles and on tap. They have a special that gives you a good chance to try to the beer of the week for cheap, and have a large variety of Wisconsin beers.
Atmosphere:
Right off the Capital, it's a great place to grab a drink, watch a game, or have brunch after the Farmer's Market. They don't take reservations so it can be a long wait, but grab a buzzer and take a walk around the Capital!
Overall, great Madison staple!
