  • Be very careful dealing with this tricky t-mobile location. It is a satellite, "franchise" location, not a real corporate one. We moved and needed short-term internet (for only a month). T-Mobile is supposedly the "Uncarrier" with "no contracts". Well, read on. I decided to go with a mobile hotspot and they recommended a Falcon ZTE. They said the contract is month-to-month, cancel anytime, no late fees, no cancellation fees. I said I didn't want to pay for the device, so they said I could RENT it, for only $3.34 per month (just return it when you're done). I said I didn't want any surprise fees (even today!), and they assured me there were none. They had me sign+initial some documents on a their little LCD card swipe machine, with a very small screen. Many pages with lots of legalese, so I read some and skimmed over some (they were verbally confirming there's no contract, no hidden fees, etc.) After I signed, they wanted to charge me a fee of $27. Wait... what? Oh, you gotta pay for the SIM card and taxes (Surprise #1)! So we went home, and the 10GB was used quickly, then it drops from 4G to 2G. At that point it's so slow it won't even load many websites (Surprise #2). We end up using my AT&T iPad cellular hotspot instead, at great cost. Anyway, after a month I go in to pay my $55 for the 10GB. I find out I wasn't "renting" the Falcon, I'd BOUGHT it for $80, on a 12 month CONTRACT (Surprise #3). So I figured, that's it, I'm done. We stopped using T-Mobile for 2 months. The final gut-punch is then I get a huge $132.40 bill in the mail. WTF? Really? I find out it's not really month-to-month, where if you don't pay, you don't get service (like a pre-paid GoPhone), but a CONTRACT where they bill you and charge LATE FEES (Surprise #4). So I already paid $27 + $55 = $82 for one month of crappy Internet. And they are trying to charge me another $132+80=$212 for the Falcon, two months of unused "service", and late fees?? STAY AWAY!
