  • I was here just one night for a business event so did not have much time to enjoy the grounds and pools. I don't golf either so the place is a bit wasted on me but I can appreciate that this is a historic property and a luxurious resort. The architecture does not really try to integrate with the Phoenix area; unlike say the JW Marriott or the Phoenician this resort is lush with lots of green spaces and trees; not the hardscapes and desert plans that feature so prominently at other properties in the area. The building themselves feel almost Mesopotamian in design; the bricks and construction conjured to mind images of ziggurats of Babylonia. It's beautiful but not like the pueblo themed lodgings I've seen elsewhere. The common space was pleasant, the service attentive, and the bar area quite nice. The catered food for our business advisory board was fairly mediocre. Certainly not bad but nothing that stood out as special either. A nice place to stay overall. Would return although I tend to prefer spaces that blend a bit more with the local environment (and likely consume less water in the desert).
