Rooms in the tower are really pretty. Character comfort and the shower head delivers a soothing spray "nice head!" 4th floor even gives good views with ability to open window a few inches to get a lil bit of outside or break from ac. Old style writing bureau and funky Polynesian themed couch with matching table all are nice touches. Clean and with an assortment of toiletries the Cortez is on a par with a much higher priced sub-Saharan hotel.
And for those nostalgic fiends out there you can use quarters in the casino with rows and rows of bucket-wielding tranches of humanity sitting perched on chairs dinging and rustling their way to fortunes untold, or not as the case may be. But of course we ll never know cos as the adage goes: what happens in El Cortez costs a fraction of what it does elsewhere. Or something like that. You feel me?
