| - I'm giving Chou's 4 stars because they came through in my time of need. In SoCal, they'd probably be a solid 3-star spot, maybe a little less. So take this review however you want...don't @ me!
Hubby and I had been in town the last couple days for spring training. Before that, we hadn't had very much Asian food. So by Thursday night, I was itching. I need something...anything. After much debate (and realization that our options were pretty limited in this area), we came here.
This place is seriously no frills. Don't come here expecting ambiance. The clientele reflected the local demographic, students....but most were Asian students, likely desperate for a taste of home. We arrived at 8pm and were seated promptly.
For food, we ordered way too much (are you surprised?) and decided on a large wonton soup, a large hot and sour soup, xiao long bao, and vermicelli with ground pork dish ("ants going up a tree"). The portions were preeettty big. The soups were ginormous.
Wonton soup: Good
Hot & Sour soup: Spicy and sour but could have used a bit more flavor
Xiao Long Bao: Decent; skins were sort of mushy and we broke many of them because they stuck to the steamer via the holes in the parchment paper.
Vermicelli: Pretty good but not what I'm used to; they basically used the same ingredients for ma po tofu and cooked vermicelli with it.
Also, the prices were pretty reasonable for the amount of food you get so I can see why a lot of students come here. Anyway, not a bad place if you're in town and need something.
