Went to the ER for severe neck pain around Thanksgiving. Where do I begin?
- I was given an x-ray but i was NOT given a pregnancy test prior despite telling the PA I was not on birth control (this is dangerous and a shoddy clinical practice)
- I was cornered by my nurse, who, based on my wrist tattoo and foreign look of my handsome Brazilian fiance, assumed I was a victim of human trafficking. She hardly left the issue alone until I became insistent. How does an ER arrival for severe neck pain trigger an accusation as serious as that??
- I was given valium and percoset for the first time in my life and had a very negative emotional/anxious reaction. I was not told prior that this would be a side effect.
-Upon getting back to California, being seen at a competent medical facility, it turns out I have a SPINAL CORD CYST which I only mention because they immediately assumed I was some drug seeking victim of human trafficking. I don't expect any ER to diagnose something like this, I am mentioning it to explain the level of pain I was in.
-I am currently on hold, at 11:30am on a Wednesday, and have been told my wait time on hold will be 47 minutes so I can ask for clarification of a bill.
