| - I love reading Vegas buffet reviews. They're all over the board! People whom I believe to have discerning tastes rate them all the way from 1 star to 5 stars.
I'm normally the anti-buffet. It's difficult to maintain the quality of anything that may sit for a while, so I save my money for other food. But you know, when in Rome and all.
We were hoping for some crab but there was not one to be found here. Bummer. I really was looking forward to showing off my crab de-shelling skills.
The variety is fair here. Without any seafood to choose from, the large counter reserved for prime rib and other meats I don't eat seemed to mock me.
The fried chicken served in cute little miniature fryer baskets tasted exactly like how I make chicken at home! Without the presentation ;) Their Wicked Macaroni and Cheese was good with a ton of Tabasco (you have to request it at your table).
I chose to make an omelette with shrimp, spinach, tomato and mushroom, as the only other egg dish besides the bland scrambled eggs was eggs benedict (no vegetarian version available :/ The omelette guys were warm and friendly.
The entire Asian section of the buffet looked like Safeway's deli so I skipped the entire section. My options seemed smaller every minute. The Italian section did have a nice eggplant dish that I'll have to try and make at home; it was soo good.
The salad bar was promising, but ended up average. The kale salad with cranberries was good. The cheese section was super slim, though. I picked up a wee pear, some sliced honeydew and pineapple with my yogurt and granola.
If you have room, the dessert bar had tarts, eclairs, cobblers, petit fours, and a delicious raspberry Rice Krispie treat. The pumpkin eclair was alright.
So far, Bellagio's buffet is the one still to beat for me. Glad I tried Wicked Spoon for the sake of curiosity, though.
