  • We arrived here with perfect timing on the last Wednesday in November first thing before 9 AM. Decided to go ahead & park in the parking garage. Bc we had our handicap placard our parking fee was waived. Yay we saved ten bucks! Be sure to be ready to go through security checkpoint twice. Yes an inconvenience but just true. It's just the way the setup is for the observation deck at the very end depending on your tours you take. We decided to go for everything: Visitor tour, power plant tour & dam tour. We probably spent several hours here in the morning. Both tour leaders gave us an endless amount of facts & statistics about the dam. We also were able to take a multitude of pics! This eighth wonder of the world is a monumental marvel. I had no idea it also provides over 50% of its energy to California as well as to Nevada & Arizona. So very phenomenal & unbelievable what the men had to endure to build this Hoover Dam. I highly recommend checking this out during this time of year like late fall. While we were in the tunnels there was a slight cool breeze. Perfect time for the both of us for sure! I can't imagine 130 degrees during the hot summers! The tunnels will be excruciatingly & unmentionably hot. Not us! Now just do it & enjoy! Yup it was our first time.
