| - What a delightful setting! Olives has an elegant menu that appeals to just about every kind of diner...not to mention it has the loveliest view of the Bellagio fountains.
We had lunch here on a Saturday and were able to get right in and even lucked out with a table right by the window so we could catch the fountain shows. The music and dancing fountains are magical and not to be missed. Our waiter arrived and seemed very cranky; I don't think he was happy that we chose to drink water instead of a cocktail. He continued his grumpy mood throughout our entire lunch, and was also somewhat rude and short with us when we were ordering. Maybe he was just having a bad day, but it was not appreciated. Bread, olives, and olive tapenade arrived and it was all a delicious and classy start to our lunch. Our food took a while to come out which was odd since the restaurant was fairly empty and we didn't order anything that should take too long. Eventually it came out and was all correct and ready to be devoured. We had the burger with fries, grilled chicken, and the beet and pear salad. The burger was decent, but nothing fantastic or show-stopping, the chicken was good and cooked well, and the salad had wonderful beets and pears with great flavor, but the dressing was a revolting maple that should have gone on a waffle and not a salad.
Our experience at olives was nice, but the food wasn't spectacular and our waiter was a downer. However the views, ambiance, and other enticing menu options make it a good place and one we will try again.
