  • This is going to be a bit of a book so settle in and let me tell you about this store, cafe, community space, love portal and shop of all things truly cool. I moved from Vancouver, BC a couple of months ago and this little store was the closest coffee to my home. Over the past two months it has become my second home. I love everything about it. First, the ladies who run Zahra and Mariko, amazing, lovely, warm and incredibly helpful. They go above and beyond when it comes to knowing their customers and you can see the pride of ownership everywhere you look. It's like a curio shop, with delicious, interesting, diet-specific baked goods, a grocery, a coffee bar, an old school candy counter and a serve yourself coffee counter. Apparently in summer I've heard they may be ice-cream - stay tuned! There are a few tables where you can pull out a book, journal , write, lounge, chit chat and these ladies are right in tune with the neighbourhood. Their motto is clearly "we all belong" and there is a supportive, loving vibe the moment you walk in the door. Just to show how much "we all belong" - you can bring your dogs into the store - INTO THE STORE and the ladies always have treats for the dogs. You can bring your children into the store and there are a few toys and books to keep them occupied as they have their sugar fix and you have your morning coffee. There are also on FRIDAYS fresh delicious samosas and although they order tonnes of them, they almost always sell out, so put in your order through FB or just give them a call and they'll set them aside. The samosas are delicious. But so far they are only on FRIDAYS. If you're looking for something cute, kitsch, delicious, decadent, caffeine fuelled or just a friendly smile and feeling of well being - you need to come to Old's Cool - you will be VERY glad you did!
