  • ***YELP 100 CHALLENGE 39/100*** Coming back to live in Vegas with a family is a task in itself, there's the constant need to find new places to explore to continuously educate and entertain your children. I was pleasantly surprised to have come across this place. Now keep in mind this isn't the Smithsonian or even come close to the bigger, newer and nicer museums in California but it does have its charm and a good enough place to spend an afternoon with your kids. They're open daily from 9 am to 4 pm. Admission is $10 for adults, $5 for children 3 to 11 and $8 for seniors/military and students. They offer a BOGO coupon on adult admission so make sure to print that before going. They have 2 stories of different galleries you can explore, among my favorites are: -EGYPTIAN gallery which showcases the renowned treasures of Egypt, a replica of the Tomb of Tutankhamun and it even has an Egyptian mummy you can examine using an xray machine. -AFRICAN savanna exhibit presents the breathtaking beauty of the Serengeti capturing animals in their simulated environment. -PREHISTORIC gallery that has a 35 foot T-Rex that roars and Triceratops that moves as well -MARINE life gallery with live sharks and stingrays occupying the 3000 gallon tank. We were also amazed to watch an employee feed the eels and turtles. He filled us in on his different tasks in the museum which the children found so interesting. They have exhibits of live animals like Burmese pythons, tarantulas, scorpions and lizards. They also have a kids interactive area which was really fun, one in particular is this earthquake simulator where you're supposed to build a building to test if it can withstand an earthquake. The place is a bit run down and there were some exhibits that badly needed some TLC but all in all it was a fun time for us and definitely worth checking out with your children.
