| - Welcome Diner was a welcome distraction in an otherwise very busy day. We had heard it was one of the best places to eat in Phoenix, and I can see why. Delicious, home style, southern food.
I ordered the bumblebee chicken biscuit sandwich. It was a little sweet for my taste, but that's understandable as honey is the star ingredient, but after some hot sauce all the flavors balanced out nicely.
My wife ordered the fried green tomato sandwich and she loved it. We also ordered poutine fries--I loved the gravy--and beignets for dessert.
Now I'm a little picky about my beignets, as I moved from Houston and visited NOLA often, and these don't match up to Cafe Du Monde or other NOLA spots, but they were still finger licking good. Literally, the woman next to me was scraping the last of the honey out of her beignet bowl with her fingers and licking it off. And I could sympathize. I didn't want my meal to end after my last bite either.
The restaurant is very small. A handful of indoor seats and a small outdoor, community picnic style eating area. It took about fourty minutes for us to get our meal after we ordered, and that was with only 2 people in front of us at the order window. This felt like ages, but I forgot about all that when I took the first bite of my biscuit. We will be back. If you haven't been here yet, just go, so worth it!

Take out is definitely the way to do it!! Placed our order on the phone and was able to pick it up about 20 minutes later on a Friday night!!
The Champion Burger- Mmm, This is a tasty burger (Samuel L. Jackson Pulp Fiction voice). If you're in the mood for a hamburger just order this! You can't go wrong with The Champion Burger, it's a winner!!
The Mac & Cheese was yummy, adding Tomato Confit and JalapeƱo Relish made it extravagant!
