  • All the information, especially the rules, are right there in front of you. You just have to follow them. That's really the most important thing I can tell you about my whole experience in Mesa. Know the rules. And even if you know the rules, or *think* you know how it works, make sure you check everything that you're supposed to do. It's all written out for you. Just follow the rules. For example, extra baggage will cost you. Hey, that's life. That's part of the rules. You only get so much that you can carry yourself (in this case, it's a personal item meaning backpack, purse, etc. and NOT a free carry-on) and you end up paying more for your baggage. That's fine if you know beforehand, and when you're going on a trip you will probably be more than happy to pay for that baggage. It ends up being a blessing in the end--extra socks, nice clothes--and you have an amazing journey *because* of baggage so don't ever rule out paying for it. Just know beforehand that it costs extra. But some things aren't negotiable. Black-and-white, you just kinda have to follow the most important rules. Like, uh, flight time. I got smug and forgot the rules. I thought I didn't have to read my ticket. I'd flown the once-a-week flight from Mesa to SLC plenty of times before, and it always leaves at 8:45am. Eventually that smugness catches up to you like it did me, and you show up to see that on this week, the flight actually left at 6:00 in the morning. Hey, that's my own fault. Rules change in life, we get curveballs, and we have to check that ticket to make sure we make our own flight. Can't blame anyone else. Certainly not the airline. The problem is, once that flight has gone, it's gone. You can't call it back. Sure, delays happen. But that's part of any airline. I've actually had less delays with Allegiant than with any other carrier recently. And things can get cramped and uncomfortable, but overall you're getting a smoking deal. If I had it to do all over again, I'd obviously look at the ticket, and make sure I was doing everything I needed to be there at the black-and-white printed time. Know the rules, fees, charges, and extras. But I don't blame them. For the fees, or for the turbulence or for any of the stuff that comes with regular air travel. You can't blame them for that, they're doing their best, too. Just know the rules. Read them. Learn them. You will have a terrific experience. Ignore them and all bets are off.
