| - Amongst the Cosmo's array of excellent restaurants, Scarpetta is definitely one of my favorites.
Hubby & I had reservations for 9:30 pm but we were running a little behind (story of our lives). We ended up getting there at 10:30 pm, and the hostesses were still so sweet despite our late arrival! We even got awesome seating with a view of the Bellagio water fountains, per Hubby's request of course. It's overall such a romantic venue with dim lights and soft lounge music.
You start off with complimentary bread, and it's honestly the best bread I've ever had. The basket has an assortment of different breads and condiments. The winner was the Stromboli- soft Italian bread filled with delicious cheese and salami. Ugh, orgasmic!
We also began with Raw Yellowtail which was topped with a ginger oil and pickled red onion. For a steep $18, it was rather disappointing. We each only got 2 bite-sized pieces of fish. Very tasteful fish, but still a let down.
My entrée made up for our appetizer. I ordered the Short Rib Agnolotti- fresh pasta filled with tender beef. It was a mouth-watering combination of sweet brown butter and toasted breadcrumbs. So delicious!
Hubby ordered the waiter's recommended Pici, a pasta colored green by chili pesto. He thought it was a bit salty, and our sides were on the salty side as well. We shared an order of mushrooms & corn, which were both bursting with flavor. It was so much food, we left with some to-go boxes.
Since you can never be too full for dessert, we ordered the Strawberry Soufflé with berries and vanilla gelato. We almost ordered a second one, a strong indication of how yummy it was. It tasted exactly how I'd imagine clouds would- Sweet, light, & fluffy. What was even sweeter was the "Happy Birthday" message written on the plate next to a candle. You just can't beat thoughtful service like this. :')
