Lola's...yum! Here's the thing about Lola's, they do certain things so right, it's 5/5 stars. But if you get the wrong thing, you'll leave unimpressed.
Location, exit 15 north turn right on charleston it's going to be a street light and you're going to go through it and quickly turn right up towards a sign that says something about Italian bread in neon lights. It's before the next bridge. Hard to find the first time, too easy after that.
The ambiance: pleasant, they have some metal tables out front with lights that would be fun to sit at on a spring vegas night. They view is of charleston street (a 4 lane street), but still nice to be outside. Inside is a tight squeeze. We were placed on a tiny high top table in the bar area. At first I was super bummed, but it ended up being fine since the waitress had to walk past us everytime to get bread for the other tables...so the service was very responsive.
The food.
Obviously the blackened shrimp and grits (15.99) is the best. Just look at the photos. They have truly sailed in that sauce that it is just delicious! Shrimp is a little over cooked if that bothers you, I would recommend the blackened cat fish it has less of the over cooked texture.
The gumbo (12.49) is ok, they say it comes with shrimp but I spotted 2 tiny ones for my whole bowl...rest of it is sausage and okra. I will try something else next time. Probably just 2 blackened shrimp (hehe)
