  • Good god. Don't go here if you want help. I was looking for a new doctor because my previous doctor's office was a bit too far of a drive, so I made an appointment with Dr Smith. I cannot stress enough how this office has been nothing but a giant pain, and I regret every having gone to the appointment. The office staff is rude and unhelpful. But that's not the worst part. They are completely incompetent. And that includes the doctor in terms of billing. The medical code for my exam wasn't accessible to the doctor for some reason (it was a normal well woman exam), so she billed it as something else and kicked off a series of issues with my insurance, which took about two months to resolve. Instead of being 100% covered, I get a bill for several hundred dollars because the doctor couldn't be bothered to get the correct code. That whole fiasco involved daily calls on my part between doctor's office, lab company, and insurance to get it straightened out. At a couple points, the office billing manager even flat out admitted that they knowlingly billed my insurance incorrectly. Can you say insurance fraud for improper billing? If that's not enough, when I called for a refill on a medication, the doctor refused. Now, I know how that might sound. But I'm not talking about painkillers or anything you abuse. I'm talking about a migraine medication. She wrote the original prescription for about 4 months of medication, and then gave me a hard time when after 5 months I needed a refill. Because you want to call and argue with a doctor when you have a migraine. And that brings us to today. My insurance tells me I need a referral for a specialist for something that was discussed during my wellness exam. So I call the doctor's office to have them make the referral. First, the receptionist tells me that it wasn't in the notes. I tell her to check again because it was a major point of discussion during the appointment. Then she gives me a hard time about what I need the doctor to do. Really? You really think it's that unusual for a primary care doctor to be asked to make a referral for insurance? Now she's telling me it'll take 24-48 hours for the doctor to get the message, and then another 4-7 days before the doctor submits the referral. Are you kidding me? 9 days for you to make a 2 minute phone call so I can see a specialist? Seriously, from the doctor to the front office to billing office, just stay far far far away from this offiec.
