We had heard good things about Nan and Byron's so we decided to try it out. To start out we ordered the SouthEnd Gin, Farmhouse Lemonade and the NightShade martini. The drinks were refreshing, though the favorite was the Lemondae. We started off with shrimp cocktail and spicy cocktail sauce. ($10.50 for 5 good sized shrimp). The Prince Edward mussels in a wine and crushed tomato cream sauce ($11) and the sushi grade tuna tartar ($10). Both were very good and I would order both as a main entree. One disappointment was that the mussels came with one thin slab of bread. There were 5 of us sharing the mussels, which had been suggested as a good appetizer to share. When we asked for more bread to soak up the delicious sauce, the waiter came out with one more slice. We then asked again for some more bread and they came out with a longer slice of bread (WTH????). We decided to take the sauce to go and get a loaf of bread on the way home because we were obviously going nowhere with this. (Management needs to rethink this - going to George's Brassiere for our favorite mussels there is no shortage of bread). There were plenty of mussels for the 5 of us to share and the Tuna Tartar was split by 4 of us. (Those 2 are the best deals for the money) The entrees that were ordered were the pan seared scallops, pan roasted chicken, seared tuna and grilled salmon and the kitchen sink salad. All of the entrees were very good - the blueberry and blue cheese popovers were amazing!! The roasted brussel sprouts were something we all could have passed on - not a great flavor and I like brussel sprouts. The seared tuna dish had 2 good size pieces of tuna, though our friend said he would have been happier with the tuna tartar. All in all we will be back and are hoping for one in Ballantyne!
