  • I'm now going to go into the major issues I had while using AVIS car rental service. 1. Arrived by shuttle to car rental location on airport property only to be met with an hour-long line. The other rental car companies had shorter lines because more customer service agents were available to help alleviate the wait time. This is unacceptable at a major location to have so few (3) agents assisting customers. In the future, my money and spending a few more dollars per day with a Hertz or Enterprise is worth it, my time is valuable to me. I will make sure that all social media accounts I have reflect this in length. 2. After finally receiving my car rental paperwork, I went to the garage with all my luggage and a one-year-old child, only to find an empty parking space. This was beyond annoying. I then had to return to customer service to retrieve a different car. Finally I was able to get another car and leave the parking structure to my destination. 3. On my way to my hotel, I was stopped by Vegas PD because lo and behold the car that was rented to me had expired tags! Yes, the embarrassment and more wait time was now way too much for me to bare. Especially with a one-year-old child in my car ready to get out after so much waiting. I had to go through the motions of waiting to be cleared by the officers before finally arriving at my hotel. 4. I missed dinner reservations for a pre-wedding day dinner because of all of this. 5. I called Avis only to be put on hold yet again and wait even longer. I finally had to hang up because I had to check in. 6. I called later that evening only to be told that I would have to return to the airport for another vehicle. I was angry and told the representative that I would not risk driving a car with unregistered tags again on the strip. The rep, Nelly, proceeded to tell me that she could get a new car towed to my hotel but couldn't guarantee that I wouldn't have to pay for towing fees because "technically" the car was drivable. (Ask the Nevada PD if this car is driveable, legally). 7. When she got the rental location to agree to cover the cost for the towing of a new vehicle, she said it would be between 90 minutes and 3 hours. I hadn't even been in Vegas for 3 hours and now this rep was asking that I wait up to 3 hours for a new car??!!! Again, more waiting and I wasn't about to do that because I had already wasted too much time with this company. I had plans with family for a wedding and various events to attend with a car I could not use! I ended up hitching rides with family members!!! I was basically charged all weekend for a car I could not use. I will be reaching out to friends, family members, and all of the social media outlets I can to relay just this.
