  • Just finished a trial shopping at the new smart and final. Rather disappointed in gluten-free selection. Also, my checker couldn't have been any less friendly. Didn't greet me, didn't ask me any questions at all just started checking me out swinging my groceries onto the counter either roughly and nobody nobody offered to put them in my basket and she never said thank you or goodbye. Very very poor customer service. I won't be back on a regular basis especially considering the good customer service and friendly people at Safeway. What a shame
