  • This review gets 5/5 stars for nostalgia alone. After having spent time in Poland and Lithuania for a few years, every now and then I get a hankering for a grocery shopping experience where there are zero friendly employees and everyone speaks a Slavic language and no English. In all seriousness though, I went to this grocery store after craving one of those chocolate covered curd snacks that they sell in Lithuania (and apparently Russian too - and side note, the price on top of the Lithuanian version was in Russian only - strange or interesting, depending on your views...). I bought the Lithuanian version and it brought me back to my days in Vilnius. While there, I also picked up some Polish chocolates (those are easier to find in downtown Toronto), one of their prepared salads (some sort of cabbage dish), a package of pre-cooked beets, and some sort of Russian pierogi (I have no idea what it's filled with as the entire package is in Russian...it will be a surprise!). They also have a delicious baked goods section, more types of feta and other cheeses than you ever knew existed, and all the pickled vegetables in giant tubs that your heart could ever desire. It can certainly be overwhelming if you don't know Russian, or maybe you're like me and enjoy the challenge/surprise. Although most of the foods in that region are fairly similar, so I was able to guess based on packaging/pictures. Also pleasantly surprising - they sell a number of Israeli goods/snacks, including packages of Krembo. Bottom line - check it out!
