rev:text	Opening it's doors in early 2016, Cobra has quickly established itself as the preeminent barcade not only in Phoenix, but possibly the country. Over the two years that I've been going here on a relatively infrequent basis, some things have gotten better and something worse. I'll get into that, but at the top I'll say that Cobra is definitely a local favorite that is worth checking out. My first time visiting was about a month after opening. Barcades were a novel concept to me at the time, and it was a night filled with wonder. They brought in an ace selection of games, all of which were free to play for the first couple months. Most importantly they have NBA Jam, which is about as good of an activity to engage in at a bar as one can imagine. Nowadays you have to buy tokens, which inhibits some elements of the arcade experience. So as an arcade, it's cool, but don't come here on a Friday or Saturday night to scratch that itch. Two years on, the place definitely has a different vibe to it, especially weekends. Get here early, since it has a relatively low cap and there's usually a line going past Filmbar most Friday and Saturday nights. From my personal experiences security is rough those nights too. They started frisking men on weekends, and while I've never had an issue I feel like it wouldn't take much to make things escalate. Inside, the balance shifts more towards a dance club atmosphere, and it's hard to move around. They have generally reasonable prices on drinks; my go to is a Tecate with lime for $3.50. You can definitely go fancier than that, I just personally don't feel the need to. And it has a cramped feel on the weekends too, so good luck playing any of the games in the front room or getting a drink in a reasonable time frame. The atmosphere is pretty good too, with interesting visual elements like the orange tubes above the bar, and the TV's playing some nostalgiac relic of your childhood usually. I definitely have some issues with this place so I'm not here a lot, but I would still recommend it highly. If you want a chill place to get a few rounds of 3rd Strike in on weekday nights, it's a place to consider. If you want to go to a pretty lit place and cram into a small dance floor on the weekends, go for it. Compared to other barcades in the area, it has all the elements in place to make it worth your while.
