  • Save the money and don't pay for the main cabin "Seat upgrades". My wife and I recently paid $57 each to upgrade our main cabin seats. Not checking the details, we assumed that would move us closer to the front of the plane, and give us extra legroom. Big mistake in the assumption! Paying an upgrade fee of $57 on a $250 round trip ticket gets you a seat closer to the front, and the ability to board slightly earlier, but no extra legroom. Coupled with the fact that the planes are older, and the seats barely recline, means it is a tough flight for people needing extra space. I complained to their complaint department and they sweetly said there was nothing they could do. Having logged over a million air miles and usually being fairly anal when booking flights, this was a rude awakening. I heard other people complaining too so they must have fallen for the same trap.
