  • This is my 2nd year going to the Street Eats food truck festival. Last year when I went my admission was dropped from $12 to $10 for bringing some canned food to donate. This year they weren't doing that, not a huge deal but I thought it was a good way of helping out and it saved me $2. Last year the line to get in was SO LONG so I bought my ticket online this year so I wouldn't have to wait. Of course the line ended up not being nearly as long this year and I ended up having to pay a service charge online so my ticket was close to $15 instead of $12. I knew the Maine Lobster Lady would be a wait, but I really don't understand how waiting in line for well over an hour is worth a $20 sandwich (we didn't wait, especially with so many other options). A lot of the other food trucks also had very long lines. I get that there are a lot of people but I also feel like the trucks should be prepared for this at a FOOD TRUCK FESTIVAL. I was at the festival within the first 2.5 hours it opened and many items were already sold out. Again, I feel like the trucks should be prepared for lots of people wanting to try their signature items. The food was so expensive, it really makes it hard to try a few different things without spending a fortune, especially if you include the admission price and drinks (alcoholic or non). They say that most trucks lower their prices and include sample sizes and prices but it just still seemed so expensive, I kind of felt like I was getting ripped off. With so many people you would think they could charge a decent price and still make a buck. It was hard to find a place to eat besides sitting on the curb. My dad has physical disabilities and he can't bend down to sit on a curb on the side of the road so we had to stand to eat. We found a table, but it was under a tent with a DJ. I understand having entertainment but it was such loud EDM music (not my cup of tea) You couldn't have a conversation with the person standing next to you without screaming. I would much rather support local music and bands in AZ and listen to some live music but maybe that's just my preference. I want to like this festival because I really like trying new foods and eating at food trucks, but honestly its much less frustrating to go down to food truck friday downtown on a Friday afternoon- not as crowded and there's still a good variety of food. As another reviewer said, in theory this festival should be awesome but it just seems to fall short of expectations. Bummer.
