  • I have been going to Nail Sense for a few years and have to admit that, while it used to be a fantastic salon, it is going downhill pretty fast. Technicians/mani-pedi: it appears that the owner changed his first year practice of hiring only highly qualified technicians and is now taking students (on the second day you will notice that the cuticles were not worked on properly, so skin is in various kinds of shreds) or he now hires technicians on tourist visa (they don't speak enough English to give instructions and also act unsure around clients). While salon claims that all tools are sterilized in autoclave (dental instruments grade of sterilizer), the technicians do not even care to rinse the nippers in between the cuts, so they basically infect you with bacteria from under the nails...I know, it sounds gross but in the last year my toes ended up badly infected three times, so be warned... I came back after the first infection hoping that if I give instructions to rinse the nippers it might save me an infection. My instructions were not followed, so I ended up with a full blown paronychia again. Then I was avoiding Nail Sence for a while but decided to give them another chance - after all they were fantastic for the first couple of years after they opened. Same result again - severe toe infection. Now I am sworn off Nail Sense forever. Customer service has deteriorated a lot in the last years too - it is absolutely true that these days there is nobody to greet clients, made them welcome and comfortable. As some ladies already noted in previous reviews, nobody explains the range of products available for mani-pedi or the difference between different kinds of products, nobody points you to the colour palettes for your selected technique, nobody shows you to the chair or offers to switch on chair massager. Because of their past reputation of a fantastic salon (and great early years reviews, mine included), they still are very busy, so they no longer care about retaining clients or having a greeter on staff...If you came there for the first time, you might find it really unfriendly - nobody pays any attention to you after asking if you have an appointment and what your name is - until one of the technicians becomes available to do your mani-pedi and tells you to get in the chair.... They still have great movies though - they run them sound off with sub-titles and don't impose on clients who are not interested in the movies. BUT movies do not help if you keep getting infections and feel like you are just a revenue generator for the salon and a tip source for technicians...
