  • The West Side Market is one of the many gems in Cleveland. There is great variety, plenty of local produce and grocers, and a good amount of ready to eat food sold here as well. If I do come here, Ohio City Pasta is a must. Many local restaurants get their fresh pasta from here, and it's not hard to see why if you try some. That being said, I would probably go insane if I had to actually do real grocery shopping here. 1) The hours are not really suitable for people who have to work. It is only open until 4pm on Mondays and Wednesdays, and until 6pm on Fridays and Saturdays. 2) I would not wish trying to find parking here on a Saturday on my worst enemies. The lanes are narrow, curved, and there are way too many people circling the lot ready to jump onto anyone that looks like they might be leaving. This is the place to see road rage at its finest. 3) I really took grocery carts for granted until I came here. I buy a lot of groceries, and just walking around carrying all that food while looking for the last item on my list is a workout in and of itself. 4) Prices here are not really any cheaper than a regular grocery store, nor are the items of any better quality. There are some deals to be had on produce, but it's usually only because they are about to go bad. I suppose this is okay if you plan to eat it immediately. Definitely come at least once for the experience (and come early if you must come on Saturday) and try some of the famous vendors, but personally I don't see the need to visit this place regularly.
