I would like to tell everyone about the great Air Conditioning company that just replaced my roof AC/heater unit. When my AC unit went out a couple of weeks ago I called my home warranty company (Choice Home Warranty - horrible people - do not ever use these people) & put in a service request to have one of their AC companies come out to look at it - they sent Solar Mechanical Works. The company told me the freon was gone due to a leak in the coil condenser & it had to be replaced. My AC unit was 32 years old & used an old form of freon that was no longer available. I then found out the cost of replacing the coil condenser including the labor was going to be substantial & that was if the part could even be found. It didn't seem worth the money to repair something that was on it's last leg anyway. I spent the next week talking to several other air conditioning companies coming out to look at the old unit & giving me a quote on a new unit. After talking with these companies & hearing all the sales pitches from big fabrications about new units/installations to huge up-sells I decided they were all trying to take me for a lot of money needlessly. So, I went online & researched a lot about AC's. It became clear that I was going to be ripped off by these so called "we are the best & cheapest in Las Vegas" companies! I called Solar Mechanical Works back to discuss several things with Chris Payne - the man who came out in the beginning. I was reluctant at first as I had read many reviews about this company online saying how awful they were with customer service, etc. However, Chris told me he is in the process of buying the company & turning it around - he is now the new COO & manager. Chris didn't try to sell me something I didn't need (like a new thermostat as mine was only about 1 year old & in great condition) and/or up-sell me to a unit that was over-kill for my size home. After we talked about the difference in several different name brands we talked about what would actually be the best thing for me. He then gave me 4 choices to look at online - all 4 are stocked locally so there wouldn't be any problem getting parts immediately if a problem should occur in the future. I did a lot of research on those & finally decided on the one I thought would be the best for me. I called him back, we set a day/time for the installation & he proceeded to explain the entire process so I would know exactly what would be done that day. The day came & went without a hitch & I now have a terrific new AC for a little more than 2/3 of the price most of the other companies wanted to charge me. I would recommend Chris Payne for all your AC needs - he is knowledgeable, honest & cares about treating his customers with respect. Like me, they will then tell others about their experience & the A-1 service they received from him. Word of mouth goes a long way in changing a company's image into a reputable one. That is why I am writing this recommendation about Chris Payne & Solar Mechanical Works. If you ever need a new AC do contact him & see if he can help you the way he helped me.
