  • Infrequently have I had to literally run through an airport to make my connecting flight, but my American Airlines flight from Charlotte Douglas to Jacksonville offered me a work-out unlike any I had had in a long time. My flight into the airport landed at 5:35 (with us being emptied out on to the tarmac itself); my connecting flight out of the airport left at 5:55. Considering it takes about 15 to 17 minutes to actually get off the plane once it lands, I had a little under - let's say - four minutes to make it from Gate E8 to Gate D8. So, considering I ran through the airport without many obstacles, I'm gonna say... four stars to you, Charlotte Douglas. Sure, one of the walkways was broken, I was beeped at by a golf cart, and your employees seemed less than impressed with my tardiness, but bygone I made my flight out. As I approached the gate - they were closing the doors - so I yelled "JACKSONVILLE?! IS THIS FOR JACKSONVILLE." The extremely unimpressed lady working the counter took my ticket, scanned my barcode, and shoved the ticket back into my hand. Still without an answer, as I started walking down the tunnel to the plane, I kept yelling: "JACKSONVILLE?!" And finally Unimpressed Ticket Lady yelled back "YES!" Okay then. Good. But, from what I saw of the airport as it blurred past me was: rocking chairs, clean looking seating areas, some food options, and some bathrooms that I desperately needed to use but couldn't.
