| - We had reserved a room at Mandalay Bay, but got a pleasant surprise when we arrived in Vegas and received a check-in e-mail to check in at Delano. There were 3 women checking in (1 party) and after a couple of minutes, another person came to check me in, so the wait was virtually nil.
The room was great, especially since we weren't expecting to stay in a suite. I wouldn't say the regular suite at the Delano is on par with Vdara or the Encore, but still a perfectly nice room. It was the little details that kept it from being a 5-star room. For example, the light fixture in the shower was... moldy. Or at least it looked like it was mold. And the trash can in the half bath in the foyer wasn't emptied. And another leg up for the Vdara is that it actually has a usable fridge in its kitchenette, where the Delano doesn't.. no kitchenette, but a wet bar area in the living room.
Overall, no complaint, and may consider staying again if convenient. Oh, the one advantage that the Delano has over Aria/Vdara is that the self parking is ridiculously simple and convenient. As in it's quicker to self-park at the Delano than valet parking. We were lucky enough to find spots really close to the stairs on the 2nd floor, so we beat those waiting for the valet every time.
