This was a real disappointment. Met a friend for drinks after a day of business, having heard the Speakeasy was a good spot for quality cocktails. While the space is comfortable enough, everything else is off, starting with the faux red velvet rope experience at the door. Ordered a Sazerac, expecting a classic cocktail presentation using a few local spirits. What I got was a watery over sweet mess garnishes with limp bits of lemon and orange peel and a licorice candy that the server said was meant to accent the anise notes in the drink. What?? If you're going to charge $17 in Pittsburgh for a cocktail, which is ridiculous on its own, at least execute a classic correctly. I expect there are some worthy cocktail bars in this city. The Speakeasy is not one of them.
