| - I found Scottsdale Dental Clinic because of its great Yelp reviews, so it's only fair to add my own! I visited Dr. K for a second opinion on some cavities my dentist had found and was recommending expensive porcelain inlays to fill. Dr. K's advice was to fill one ASAP with a regular composite filling (which is actually covered by my insurance) and keep an eye on the others. He was very respectful of the findings of my previous dentist, and thoroughly explained to me how dentists watch decay and at what point they recommend fillings.
I will call myself out as that neurotic patient that does their homework and beyond, coming to every doctor/dentist/you name it with a long list of questions- sometimes even skepticism. I like to understand what's happening and why I'm paying $$$ for procedures- call me crazy!
Instead of treating me like I was crazy, however, Dr. K answered every single question I had, and even some I didn't, with thorough answers and visuals to support them. He walked me through all types of treatments (fillings, inlays, onlays and crowns), and helped me to understand why he was making the recommendation that he was. He blocks out time to spend talking with you, both about your teeth and also to get to know you. He is so warm and personable, as is his assistant and the receptionist. Their level of care and attentiveness is outstanding!
I just had the aforementioned cavity filled this week, and was really impressed with how much effort was put forth to make me comfortable. This was the "deal with it ASAP" cavity, so there was a lot of drilling happening, but periodically I noticed that Dr. K was taking pictures of my mouth with his iPhone. Afterwards, he showed me progress photos of what the cavity looked like once he got beyond the surface, then when he'd cleaned out all the decay and lastly what the new filling looked like. I don't know about you, but no dentist I've ever known has done this! He must have known I would appreciate the extra documentation (because I would have never even thought to ask for this). Not to mention, the image of unmistakeable decay in YOUR own tooth is one that gets burned into your mind forever as permanent motivation to floss. ;)
All in all, I was really impressed, both with the procedure and the extra steps taken to give me peace of mind and understanding. Thanks Dr. Karawi and team!
