I grew up eating Bruegger's Bagels which, when I was little, I thought were the best things in the world.
Then I went to college and found that there were really weird things like Einstein's/Panera's bagels which...are not even bagels by my standards.
My bagel saga continued to NYC, where I did have okay bagels (New Yorkers, keep the comments to yourselves svp), but what made the bagels awesome in NYC were the fillings.
Finally I came to Montreal and discovered why the girl from Montreal in my grad school had her parents ship her bagels to the US by the dozen and ate only bagels during class.
THESE ARE THE BEST. So chewy, not bready, slightly sweet. This place is open 24 hours, and you don't have to feel weird about going to a bakery not right at 7am--the bagels are still hot, they give you freezer bags, and cheap. A half dozen for about $5?!
Damn. Love this spot.
