  • Just when I think Yelp events can't possibly get any better, the folks at Pittsburgh Yelp outdo themselves again! This was a fantastic event from start to finish and it gave me the chance to explore the airport like never before. My boyfriend and I have been traveling more recently, and we were both so excited to see an event at the airport! When I book my flights, I tend to lean toward early morning flights and don't typically leave myself much time to explore the airport and all of the businesses here. This event did exactly that, and I discovered so many places I had no idea were even in the airport that may change my mind next time I apt for the typical McDonald's breakfast before catching a flight. Airport security is a serious thing, and the employees were wonderful at guiding us through the procedure. The planning that went into this event was spot on. We arrived in the common area between all the terminals and were greeted by staff that gave us "tickets" and "passports" that would allow us to try samples from 12 different vendors. These weren't like the tiny samples you'd get from Sam's Club on a Saturday. I was absolutely stuffed by the end of the event, and we even left with food to go. Some vendors I particularly enjoyed were: Blume Honey Water at The Strip Market, the tacos from Steel Cactus (who can be mad at a good taco), gyros from Marathon, coffee and Enrico's biscotti from Bottega dei Sapori, Obatzda Balls from Penn Brewery (a jazzy potato pancake with bratwurst, sauerkraut, and beer cheese), and the Mr. Rodgers grilled cheese (melty brie and apple) from Local. There was nothing I tried that wasn't good, and it was my first time trying macarons courtesy of Gaby et Jules! The event began at 1, and we met up for a cocktail reception at Martini at 3 to hear who would be lucky enough to win plane tickets to Iceland. We loved the bartender, T, and the delicious drinks he made us. There were balloons with the Yelp logo everywhere in sight and tons of food for us to enjoy, it almost felt like a party! We got gift bags on our way out with cookies, koozies, coupons, and even a $10 gift certificate that is able to be used anywhere in the airport. My boyfriend and I had such a blast here and Yelp was incredibly generous to us. Thanks for a wonderful time, Yelp!
