| - This was the worst experience I've had renting my home. When I first signed on with them, I had questions about how they advertised my house, which they wouldn't discuss with me until I sent the contract back. I thought that was shady and I should have went with my gut instinct then. I just wanted to make sure I approved of the efforts they would make to rent my house. They used a super secret website for listing it and they couldn't tell me the name of it until I signed the contract. Turns out, the website was rentals.com, which anybody can sign up with.
After about two weeks, they finally got my listing up. I looked at the online photos in horror. The blinds were all closed and it was so dark in the photos, you couldn't even see the rooms! After some serious complaining, they finally agreed to go reshoot the photos.
They sent cleaning people in who stole our brand new lawnmower that we were going to leave for the new resident to use. Upon questioning, they claimed it said in the contract that it was dangerous or something like that and then changed their story to say that any junk or trash left in the house was to be thrown out. (It was the ONLY thing in the garage.) They refused to replace it.
I had to call them just about every single month for something or the other. Twice they charged our resident a late fee when they shouldn't have and when we asked them to reverse it, they took the charge out of the check they were supposed to send to us! We had decided before we ever had a renter in there that we weren't renewing, but by that point, they were holding our feet to the fire on the contract and wouldn't let us out. They didn't even find the renter, WE DID. I regret ever hiring them.
Finally, towards the end of the contract we asked for a copy of the resident's lease agreement so we could make sure there were no damages before we transferred everything over to a new lease. I needed a copy of the move-in inspection form. THEY COULD NOT PROVIDE ME WITH A COPY OF THE RESIDENT'S LEASE. I contacted a landlord/tenant attorney for advice. It turned out that after inspecting the home, there were no damages I needed to pursue and it was going to cost me more money to pursue legal action than the cost of my losses, so I never ended up filing anything.
My resident sent us a letter telling us they wanted to renew but asking if we would fire the management company and just let them pay us directly. They had no idea we had already given notice to Brown and Glenn.
Hopefully my review will help someone else to avoid the mistakes that I made with hiring them.
