  • Not impressed. Insert Coins is a video game bar located in downtown Las Vegas on the east side of Fremont Street row. The concept of the bar sounded cool and reminded me of EightyTwo back in Los Angeles (love that place). When we approached the door, we were told to pay $5. This was on a Saturday night. We surrendered a five dollar bill and they let us in. What we found inside was disappointing. The crowd was sparse and sad. Some sat at the bar, others milled around next to games, but they weren't even playing any games. The right side of the wall had booths with console games, but they seemed reserved for others and off limits. The opposite wall had a line of old 80's and 90's arcade games like The Simpsons and Street Fighter. Compared to the bar's website game list, it seemed like there was more advertised than what was physically there. I guess a lot of games were broken?! We played two different games and while one of them was fun, the other seemed to have broken buttons and ate our quarters. Lame. No wonder folks weren't playing video games in this place. The machines might be broken. Waste of money. We were not there more than 15 minutes and decided to leave. It was not what we expected. The management shouldn't even charge cover. The place wasn't crowded at all on a Saturday night compared to neighboring bars, most of which were free or no cover.
