| - We spent 3 nights in Scottsdale, and we found ourselves here 2 of those 3 nights! Oh my gosh, what a fantastic spot wit diverse options, especially if you like a healthy twist on your meals. Not to mention, it is located in the Scottsdale shopping quarter and the ambiance is gorgeous with their glass walls and brightly lit palm trees on the perimeter.
The lighting in the evening is mostly dim, and just really adorable. People were here for anything to everything from work dinners to dates to family dinners out. We came here straight from the airport on our first night and were dressed veryyy casually and didn't feel like we didn't belong in this lovely restaurant in a fairly upscale area. The waiters and waitresses were kind and extremely helpful. We all had difficult times deciding what we wanted to order from the multiple mouth watering options, and they helped!
I had been sick with a terrible cough and a half present voice. I had the adaptogenic tea both nights and it was AMAZINGLY soothing, and just really, really tasty. It had a hint of lime and ginger - exactly what I needed both times on chilly nights.
The first night I ordered Moroccan chicken and it was some of the best grilled chicken I've ever had. Not to mention, it had pureed figs on top and was in a chickpeas sauce. So flavorful and amazing! I cleaned my plate.
The second night I had cashew Pad Thai which was also excellent. Im always wary of how non-Asian places do Pad Thai, and while this was also a fusion entrée, it was still fairly true to the flavor of the noodles. I'd say it was the vegetables that were a little more nontraditional with it, but still amazing. The cashews instead of peanuts were also a great twist!
For dessert we had the flourless chocolate cake with ice cream both nights --- it was SO GOOD. It was rich and cocoa-packed, and probably the size of a cupcake in case you're wondering. It is good for one dessert-loving person or to be shared between two people.
We also tried the squash pie, which as strange as it sounds, was great. If you like pumpkin pie, you'll love this as well! Its maybe a little bit sweeter than pumpkin pie, but same consistency.
Overall, I highly recommend True Food Kitchen!! There is something here for everyone! Also very vegan or vegetarian friendly.
