  • My girlfriend and I decided to try a new pho place in Vegas....or at least a different place than where we normally go but a name we were familiar with. Pho So 1 has a location in California located on Victory and Sepulveda blvd; and never have their quality ever disappointed me after many years of patronage. So for the first time last night, we decided to switch gears and try Pho So 1 in Las Vegas from our usual Pho Kim Long. Our expectations were that of what we were familiar with and accustomed to. The place had all the right smells and the look typical of a Pho joint, I felt that this was going to be good. My girlfriend ordered the grilled pork vermicelli and I ordered the pork chop and shredded pork with omelette dish. Food arrived quick as it always usually does but already we were offput by the smell. There was something strange and we had noticed that in the menu as the menu items are different from their location in CA. There was this smell coming from the food that just didn't seem right, which then led to the taste, then ultimately to how we felt after dinner. I want to say that the pork items were probably bad for as I'm writing this review right now-my stomach is still feeling uneasy. My girlfriend felt the same way. Her grilled pork vermicelli kinda had a lemongrass-like taste to it which we couldn't confirm if it was one of the ingredients used to flavor the pork, and as for mine it tasted something similar but more of pork that was spoiling. If you have ever left meat out or smelled spoiling meat then that is the picture in trying to paint for you in terms of taste and smell, it was not good and why I'm giving it a 1 star rating based solely on this experience. We ended up eating what we could that wasn't meat, but by then we had felt that the meal was tainted and decided to just stop. We still paid for our meal but it was truly not worth it as we would've been better off having McDonald's for dinner. Ultimately it was my fault for wanting to venture out of the normal and breaking redundancy by going to a new place. But had I not, I would've never had this experience to prove that once you've tried the best to just forget the rest. I'll still go to Pho So 1 being that it's the CA location. But while in Vegas...I'll be going to its competitor.
