  • I've come to love this small little shithole, and struggle with not giving it five stars. It's never completely full, and never totally empty. The first room is basement size comfortable and has a dozen seats in addition to three bar tables in the rear. They also have a side room with a pool table. Two TVs are on, one in each corner, usually on Brewers or Football. It's a convienant place to stop on the my home, park next door in the car repair lot, and have a quick cheap drink to watch baseball, football or talk with a friend. Met three bartenders, all very nice, all attentive, all want you to have a good time. Full of locals who come mostly at night. Mostly. They also leave you alone, mostly. Not threatening...but people are repeatedly drunker here than any other bar I've walked into across Madison....and that's saying something. It's free entertainment. Hope they are walking home. If Rose is there, ask for a "Lady Beer" and see what she does. We ordered six once, and she asked how many ladies were with us. She then gave us three pints, and three half pints, and charged accordingly. Ladies drink differently, you see...don't hold this against Rose, as this happened many years ago, and she's about 112 now. It was a different time. Anyway, if you are free, swing by to see the shit show rodeo at the Lady Beer Bar (that's what we call it).
