  • ANOTHER KID NEARLY DROWNED IN THE KIDDIE/TODDLER POOL AREA!!! Now I know for sure the lifeguards there are a joke. I was in the kiddie/todder area watching my daughter on 4/1/2015. All of a sudden I hear someone yell "get her!" "get her! the lifeguard standing at the bottom of the slides just ignored the yelling too busy in her own world. All of a sudden I see a mom run into the pool right next to the "lifeguard" (yes I put quotes because in my opinion she was not a lifeguard) and grabbed a 2 year old out from under the water!!! This 2 year old was drowning right next to the lifeguards feet!!! the lifeguard had no idea what was going on!! WTF?! Please I beg of you to watch your children in this park!!! the "lifeguards" are not really lifeguards!! they are just teens who don't give a f@#! about your kids! they want an easy check and are not held liable for anything!!! how clueless can you possibly be if you don't even notice a child right next to your feet drowning/gone under!! the kid is right next to you for God's sake! how can you live with yourself knowing that you just don't give a crap about drowning kids? they care more about shooing the kids out of the pool area because they don't want kids lingering in the pool area. I guess the meaning of lifeguard in the this park means something different. This park is a lot smaller then the original wet n wild that used to be on the strip. I don't know if they plan on expanding but its really small. I thought coming here would allow me to relive my days as a teen but meh....not even close. I tried to build this place up for my kids because of what I remembered from the one on the strip and it doesn't even come close. the lazy river is extremely small and the wave pool is extremely small also. The drive in movie thing is a joke. the screen is so small and you can barely hear audio. I am really upset with the training of the lifeguards. I got the 40 day for $40 pass last summer and every time I came they never measured my daughter the same!!! some days she was tall enough to do the kiddie slide some days they would put their foot down and say she wasn't tall enough! they all use the same measuring tool so what the heck?! Then the unthinkable happen! the lifeguard in the kiddie area basically let my 3 year old drown! she has her backed turned to the little ones as they are coming down and my daughter went under!! the lifeguard was to busy with kids that were not drowning up the stairs out of the kiddie pool to notice! I yell for her to pay attention thinking shes closer then I am so she could at least turn around and grab my daughter but nope...instead she turns to me and throws her hand up in the air like im crazy after my daughter pulled herself out of the water! I ask to speak with a manager, when someone finally came I explained what happened. instead of being sympathetic and reassuring she tells me they let parents stand in the kiddie water area wheras they did not used to. so she basically told me to watch my own kid. which I have no problems doing, so I guess the lifeguard is for show???? then to my utmost disbelief the manager in the office high fives this lifeguard as she enters the office as if its a good thing to let 3 year old drown! wow! don't come here expecting to find the same wet n wild that used to be on the strip because you wont. also keep a close eye on your little ones. no one is going to care for your child the way you will. don't think a "lifeguard" will actually save your child. UPDATE: for the 2015 season don't count on the "new" slide to be included in your season pass price. They do not disclose this information prior to purchase. the "new" slide is not even in operation nor is it "new." They have not added any slides. Instead they plan on modifying an existing slide. When it is finally operational (maybe in 3 weeks according to an employee), you will need to pay a $5 fee for use of the slide per day. I don't know if they have a lack of employees but the lazy river and the wave pool were not operational at the same time opening day. They are currently switching back and forth every hour. If you can even handle the freezing cold water. there is only 1 out of the 3 big slides open in the kiddie area. they got it so cold you cant even move without pain. come on park, get it together...its not over 100 degrees out yet. I dunno man....I can handle the crappy lifeguard thing because i'm capable of watching my own kids in the water, but geeze i'm starting to think I should've just paid the extra money for the passes at cowabunga bay. the park was so empty, i'm really wondering did everyone choose cowabunga bay this year?! I don't know why yelp is saying this park is not open till may its fully operational as of 3/28/15. park hours are 10:30-5 for the spring break....just go the website for calendar hours.......man I really hope they get it together here.
